Institute for Computers (Institutul pentru Tehnica de Calcul -ITC) is an experienced integrator of IT solutions with a significant background in research and development, specialized in complex projects in a wide variety of fields, such as: transport, infrastructure, environment, industry, and so on.
The possibility of integration with the business solutions supplied by ITC enables the adaptive management of resources, optimisation of performance and extended visibility along the suppliers and customers chain.
For rail transport, ITC has developed a series of solutions such as TrackView, “Cost Expert”, Data terminal, RailCar RFID, as well as two web portals – “Railway Orders” and “Management of Railway Personnel Activities”.
Data Platform is a system that collects data about the locomotive status (position, speed, energy or diesel fuel consumption etc.), train structure and loading, as well as the identity of movement factors, delivering all these data for processing, analysis and generation of reports.
RailCar RFID is a monitoring system for tank wagons based on the RFID technology. Thus, freight wagons are identified with the help of the RFID tag readers integrated into a territorial data procurement network. By tracking the location of freight wagons, the users are able to analyse the utilisation level by increasing the efficiency of transport resources.
TrackView is designed to support the management of transport activities. The fleet tracking solution is performing a real-time geographic vehicle monitoring, extended with a complex data acquisition system regarding train composition, personnel attendance, energy and fuel consumptions and railway engines activity. A complex online or offline reporting system is implemented, providing historical and on-time insights for operational exploitation and analysis and also for executive summaries.
A solution dedicated to improving the efficiency and reducing costs in rail freight transport is the “Cost Expert”.
The system includes several applications developed for different options and is designed entirely based on three major concepts such as robustness, flexibility and simplicity. The “Cost-Expert” application meets the calculation rail freight costs taking into account the effects of the current track geometry and increases the level of appreciation of the opportunity costs they offer by modifying the Cost-Expert graphic script.
“The application provides a graphic interface in a general railway language thus facilitating use. Most actions are carried out automatically by the Cost – Expert Application”, declared Ovidiu Anicai, Project Manager – ITC, during the Railway PRO Technology and Services Forum, organised by Club Feroviar and Railway PRO, with the support of the Romanian Railway Industry Association in Arad on 5-6 April.
The “Cost-Expert” is designed by GFR, GRAMPET and ITC computing to meet the cost of rail transport of goods of GFR.
Application features:
– Significantly increase the accuracy of the results by calculating the exact track access charge and by designing more rigorous scenario provision;
– Allows a constructive dialogue with representatives of the department operating on the graph that underlies the determination of the benefit costs;
– Perform tow sheet in different variants (detailed, simplified, optimized);
– Allows printing reports the results of cost, schedule, and script files towing;
– Generate a specific archive files costing over time;
– Performs calculation of transport costs and physical indicators of provision.
