In March, Grup Feroviar Roman (GFR) launched the electronic consignment note as the only operator in Romania to place this service into operation. “This year, in March, we launched the electronic consignment note to improve the efficiency of our services. In fact, we are the only company in Romania to have placed this electronic service into operation and among the few operators in the region. The system is already functional and implemented for several customers”, declared Amedeo Neculcea, Councillor GFR, during the Railway Pro Technology and Services Forum, organised by Railway PRO, Club Feroviar and the Romanian Railway Industry Association (AIF) on 5-6 April 2017.
The advantages of the Electronic Consignment Note (STE) include the completion of an electronic form similar to the paper form, delivering opportunities on the use of consignment note forms, the elimination of the pre-printed forms and logistics problems, the use of any printer to print the consignment note on a A$-type paper. Also, the place where the consignment note is filled in no longer has to be close to the place of delivery of the shipment.
The Electronic Consignment Note Application (STE) is an online instrument used to edit, manage and track the consignment notes that accompany the cars for which GFR has the quality of contractual transport operator, significantly facilitating the filling in of the consignment notes by the shipper, the information regarding the status of shipments, the synthetic reports on the shipments and the preservation on an unspecified period of time of all the consignment notes and their history in a database available to customers, explained Amedeo Neculcea.
Every month, GFR carries over 7000 shipments and circulates just as many consignment notes, of which over 2800 consignment notes are local. Of all consignment notes released per month, 40% are local consignment notes generated by GF, 16% are international consignment notes generated by GFR and 44% are international consignment notes generated by other operators.
