Turkish Minister of Transport, Maritime and Communication, Ahmet Arslan, said that the train to the west , in Anatolia province should go to the Eastern Black Sea coast, therefore, Kırıkkale, Çorum, Samsun and Erzincan should be connected to Trabzon, by railway.
„According to the high speed railway network length, Turkey ranks 6th in Europe and it is the 8th high speed train operator worldwide. But Ankara, Konya, Eskişehir, Istanbul, Kocaeli are not connected together within the rail network. We want to extend the high speed rail network all over the country. In other words, after Istanbul, from Kapıkule to Europe we want to continue with the high speed network from there to Ankara. The construction of Sivas high speed rail continues. The tender for Erzincan continues. Immediately Erzurum and Kars will continue to work on a high speed rail network”, Transport Minister Arslan explained.
Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway to be opened in June
Minister Arslan pointed out that the rail network from Kars to the west must go to the Black Sea as well. Therefore we will link Kırıkkale, Çorum, Samsun and Erzincan to Trabzon. We will build railway networks from Erzincan to the south, from Sivas to the south, namely Elazığ, Malatya, Diyarbakır and Mardin. They are complementary. These are very important for us and for our country as well. One of the most important rings of these projects is the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) Railway Project, which allows a train from London to go to Beijing. This project, BTK is important for our region and very important for Kars. I hope to open it in June”, Arslan mentioned.
