According to data released by the UK Office of Rail & Road (ORR), ten train operators will make a combined net payment of GBP 3.1 million (EUR 3.6 million) to Network Rail for the 2015 to 2016 period.
All ten operators will make net payments to Network Rail for the period, with no payments going the other way. The ten operators are participating in the route-level efficiency benefit sharing mechanism (REBS) which encourages Network Rail and train operators to work together and allow both to share in Network Rail’s efficiency gains or losses on an annual basis.
Virgin East Coast will make a payment of GBP 1.8 million (EUR 2.1 million) to Network Rail. Govia Thameslink Railway, London Midland and Southeastern will pay GBP 1.1 million (EUR 1.2 million), GBP 5,832 (EUR 6,844) and GBP 10,102 (EUR 11,855), respectively. First Hull Trains will pay GBP 59,377 (EUR 69,681). Caledonian Sleep will make a payment of GBP 137,525 (EUR 161,391).
Virgin West Coast, South West Trains, Chiltern Rail and Greater Anglia will pay a nominal amount.
