The China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) has started the construction of Serbian Rasputnica G-Rakovica-Resnik railway section (7.5 km). The project has a value of EUR 23.7 million. “I am glad that such a large company has started the works for this line. This important section should be completed by March 2018,” Serbian Minister of Transport Zorana Mihajlović said.
The project involves the reconstruction and replacement of the civil and electrical infrastructure, including the modernisation of the railway stations.
The section is an important connection with Macedonian railway network, being part of Belgrade-Mladenovac-Nis-Presevo (Macedonian border) route.
“The company is interested to participate in other transport projects across Serbia’s railway infrastructure. Serbian companies will be involved as subcontractors and the needed equipments will be purchased from Serbia and the region. In addition, CCECC plans to compete on the tender for the construction of Belgrade-Budapest line,” Director of the Serbian office of CCECC, Zhu Tianran said.
The contract with the Chinese company was signed in January.
