The UK government is considering plans to attract technology groups as equity partners in the HS2 project, according to the British press. Technology groups such as Uber and Google are being targeted to acquire minority stakes in consortia which would tender for the right to operate trains once a new franchise is launched in 2019.
Market leaders in customer service and innovation are being sought to enhance the passenger experience in order to ensure HS2 is not rendered obsolete by new technology before its planned launch in 2026.
