Moscow: Third Interchange Circuit first section to be launched this year

The first section is 10.5 km long with 6 stations, as part of Moscow’s Third Interchange Circuit (TIC) will be opened this summer, Deputy Mayor for Urban Development and Construction Marat Khusnullin announced. “Work on the first TIC section from Delovoy Tsentr to Petrovsky Park is scheduled to be finished in summer. It is a very difficult section to build,” he added.
A full launch of the Third Interchange Circuit, stretching 61 km and consisting of 30 stations, is scheduled for 2020-2021. There will also be 17 crossings with operating metro lines, 7 with radial railways and two with the Moscow Central Circle (MCC). The underground Third Interchange Circuit will be the second Circle Line of the Moscow Metro. It will be located ten km from the first Circle Line and will link all existing and planned radial metro routes.
The Third Interchange Circuit will allow passengers to save travel time and will help reduce the load on central sections of radial metro lines by 20-25 percent.
This year it is also planned to finish the construction of 19 metro stations and over 42 km of tunnels.
