PKP Polish Railway Lines, PKP PLK, has announced that in April expects to sign the contract for the modernisation of Grodzisk Mazowiecki-Warsaw rail route, including the modernisation of 5 stops. The Grodzisk Mazowiecki is a city situated at 30 km southwest from Warsaw. The value of the project is PLN290 million (EUR 67 million) and involves 22 km of railway line on Warsaw Włochy – Grodzisk Mazowieck route. The works are expected to start in May and they should be completed in 2018.
“We are prepared to modernise the suburban route to Warsaw and similar project will be launched for Krakow suburban rail network. We will improve the infrastructure in Grodzisk Mazowiecki and Poznań to have efficient connections between major centers of the regions. This is one of the priority underlined in the National Railway Strategy,” Ireneusz Merchel, CEO of PKP Polish Railway Lines said.
