According to the latest figures, the loading volume on the rail network operated by RZD in January-February 2017 amounted to 196.1 million tons, which is 3.8% more than in the same two months last year.
Ferrous metal scrap registered the biggest increase (+41.4%), to 1.7 million tons, followed by coal (+9.1%), to 60.1 million tons; timber (+6.8%), to 6.7 million tons; coke (+6.3%), to 1.8 million tons; industrial raw materials and moulded materials (+6%), to 4.6 million tons; chemicals and soda (+5%), to 4.5 million tons; and chemical and mineral fertilisers (+4.5%), to 9.4 million tons.
Freight turnover since the beginning of 2017 amounted to 392.6 billion tariff ton-km, an increase of 6.7%.
In February, 96 million tons of freight were loaded on the rail network operated by RZD, 0.9% more than during February 2016. In the same month, freight turnover increased compared to February 2016 by 2.2% and amounted to 189.1 billion tariff ton-km.
