LDz Cargo, a freight-shipping subsidiary of Latvian railway company Latvijas Dzelzcels, carried 9.264 mln tons of freight in the first two months of 2017, up 5.9% from the same period in 2015.
Most of the freight carried by LDz Cargo in the first two months was import cargos, accounting for 8.264 mln tons and growing 5.7% year-on-year. Export cargos fell by 37.8% year-on-year to 257,000 tons. Transit freight rose by 68.2% year-on-year to 540,000 tons in the two months of this year, while domestic freight deliveries increased by 4.6 % to 203,000 tons.
In February this year, the company carried 4.432 mln tons of cargo or 7.3% more than during the same months in 2016.
