According to the latest figures, 76.7 million passengers were transported on RZD’s rail infrastructure in February 2017, 6.4% more than in February 2016. Suburban passenger numbers increased by 6.6% to 70.6 million, while long-distance passengers were up to 6.1 million (+3.4%). Passenger turnover in February 2017 amounted to 6.6 billion passenger-km, 2.5% less than in February 2016.
In January-February 2017, 154.2 million passengers were transported, which represents an increase of 9.3% compared to January-February 2016. Long-distance passenger numbers amounted to 13.7 million (+0.5%), while suburban passengers rose to 140.5 million (+10.3%). Since the beginning of 2017, passenger turnover on the Russian Railways’ network decreased by 2% compared to last year and amounted to 15.1 billion passenger-kilometres.
