Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane will be involved within the railway reform process in Egypt, a project launched by the government and financed by the World Bank.
On December 6, the parties have signed the agreement and it is expected to start the cooperation under the World Bank assistance.
Under the EUR 240 thousand contract, FS Italiane will provide consultancy services for 8 months, aimed at improving the Egyptian rail system in terms of governance reorganization, market regulation, access to infrastructure and security.
FS Italiane submitted a proposal for assistance in association with the Egyptian engineering company Mena Rail-which previously worked with the Italian FS Group, also involving Rete Ferroviaria Italiana and Trenitalia. Among 14 consortia that have participated at the tender, there were Systra – KPMG JV, IDOM- CID (Spain), CPCS Transcom Ltd (Canada), Logic (Great Britain) and the consultancy companies: Ernst&Young, AT Kerney, Roland Berger.
