Under the second Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) calls for proposals, Poland’s railway infrastructure manager PKP PLK received EUR 1.6 billion for railway projects in Silesia, Krakow, Tri-City metropolitan area, Szczecin and Swinoujscie. Currently, PKP PLK is the biggest CEF beneficiary.
Within the second CEF calls for proposals, EU granted Poland EUR 1.9 billion for the implementation of 16 investment projects, most of them being railway projects. Under this CEF financing, 500 km of railway lines will be modernised.
The CEF financing for the 10 projects:
The modernisation of Zabrze – Katowice – Krakow section on E30 line (EUR 410 million); total value: EUR 529 million
The modernisation of Czyżew – Bialystok section on E75 line (EUR 303 million); total value: EUR 397.4 million
The modernisation of Krakow Central Freight –Rudzice section on E30 Line (EUR 320 million); total value: EUR 396 million
Works on 14 and 811 lines on the Łódź Kaliska – Zduńska Wola – Ostrów Wielkopolski section, stage I: Łódź Kaliska – Zduńska Wola (EUR 73 million); total value: EUR 113 million
The improvement of rail access to port of Gdańsk (EUR 116 million); total value: EUR 141.5 million
The improvement of rail access to port Gdynia (EUR 162 million); total value: EUR 191 million
The improving rail access to sea ports in Szczecin and Swinoujscie (EUR 122 million); total value: EUR 143.7 million
Works on E 20 Line on Siedlce – Terespol, stage III – LCS Terespol (EUR 110 million); total value: EUR 131 million
The electrification of 274 and 278 lines, on Węgliniec – Zgorzelec section (EUR 19 million); total value: EUR 22.5 million
Preliminary design on works related to passenger transport for the E 30 and E 65 in Silezia area, stage I on Bedzin – Katowice – Tychy – Czechowice Dziedzice section (EUR 7.6 million); total value: EUR 8.9 million
