The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development wants to engage a consultant to monitor the implementation of a rail project in FYR Macedonia. The assignment is expected to start in Q4 2016/Q1 2017 and has an estimated overall duration of 48 months. The estimated cost is EUR 150,000 and the contract may be extended subject to bank’s needs, consultant’s performance and availability of funding.
The bank has extended a loan for the Public Enterprise for Railway Infrastructure of FYR Macedonia in a total amount of EUR 145 million for the construction of a new rail line as well as the reconstruction of existing sections between Beljakovce and Kriva Palanka.
The project involves the rehabilitation and new construction of the second section which extends from Beljkavce station at the northern end to the vicinity of the city of Kriva Palanka, with a length of approximately 34 km.
The envisaged works include the execution and completion of earthworks and drainage; the construction of 12 bridges and finalization of the works on 14 bridges which are partially constructed; and the construction of 15 tunnels currently at the various stages of completion.
