Eight new stations to be built in Moscow

moscow-stationsEight new passenger stations will be built on radial railways in Moscow, Marat Khusnullin, Deputy Mayor for Urban Development and Construction, said.
“At present, considerable attention is being focused on integrating the metro system, the Moscow Central Ring (MCR) and radial railways. Together with the Russian Railways, we have worked out a plan for the construction of eight new stations on radial lines,” Khusnullin said.
The new stations will improve interchange between different types of public transit and pave the way for the creation of new transit hubs.
Proposals are also being considered for so-called zoned or end-point railway stations with no extension towards the centre, the head of the company Stroikompleks explained, adding that Karacharovo will be one of them.
“The Karacharovo station will be moved closer to the Nizhegorodskaya station, which is currently being built, and towards the already functioning station on the MCR. Passengers of some commuter trains and even long-distance trains, upon arriving here, will be able to change to any type of transit they choose right here instead of having to travel farther on towards the centre,” Khusnullin said.
