Two consortia for Bangkok Yellow and Pink lines

pink-lineThe Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) announced that two consortia have submitted offers for Bangkok’s new mass transit lines.
The tenders involved the Yellow and Pink lines, implemented under PPP model. They are estimated at USD 3 billion.
The first consortium is BSR Joint Venture formed by Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding Plc (RATCH), BTS Group Holding Plc and Sino-Thai Engineering and Construction Plc (STEC).
The second consortium comprises in Bangkok Expressway and Metro Public Co (BEM), which has the concession to operate the MRT Blue Line and Purple Line metro services.
The contracts for both mass transport schemes will cover a period of 33 years and three months including construction work.
According to MRTA governor Peerayudh Singpatanakul, the bidding committee is expected to take three months to consider the offers and make decisions with the contract signings likely to take place in April next year.
The 30.4 km Yellow Line is estimated at USD 1.49 billion and will connect Lat Phrao and Samrong. The Pink Line will have 34.5 km linking Khae Rai and Min Buri and is estimated at USD 1.5 billion.
