Helsinki: Mipro to deliver interlocking system for West Metro

miproMipro, a Finnish company, has entered into an agreement with the Helsinki City Transport operator HKL and Länsimetro to deliver the interlocking system for West Metro, the Western metro extension from central Helsinki to the neighboring town of Espoo. The contract covers the interlocking and operation control systems, and also the passenger information system for the Ruoholahti–Matinkylä section. The total value of the contract is EUR 19.7 million and includes an option for corresponding systems to be delivered for the current Helsinki metro and Länsimetro extension as well.
The computer-based interlocking system is developed for applications used to control and manage high-frequency and demanding rail operations. The system enables various traffic and operation modes and rail operating in both directions. Mipro’s interlocking system controls and notifies status data of all track equipment on the said traffic section and thus ensures a reliable control and monitoring of the rail traffic.
