Albanian Railways intends using a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and grants from the European Union (EU) through the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF) for the rehabilitation of the existing railway line between Tirana and Durres with approximate length of 34.7 km and construction of a new rail link to Tirana International Airport “Mother Theresa” approximately 7.4 km in length.
The Project has a total estimated cost of EUR 90.3 million and will require the procurement of the works and consultancy services.
The works include the rehabilitation of the Tirana – Durres railway line and construction of a new rail link to Tirana International Airport “Mother Theres; and consultancy services involve the supervision of works, that will be funded through Western Balkans Investment Framework.
Tendering for the construction works and the consultancy services is expected to begin in December 2016.
