Victorian Government awarded Laing O’Rourke, Fulton Hogan and Jacobs JV a USD 500 million contract to design and construct the Hurstbridge line upgrade and two level crossing removals, with the contract expected to be awarded in early 2017.
The contract includes the duplication of tracks between Rosanna and Heidelberg on the Hurstbridge line, the building of a new train station at Rosanna and the removal of level crossings at Grange and Lower Plenty roads. Building a second track on the old 1.2 km single track section from Rosanna to Heidelberg will allow for more services, reducing crowding, and improving the reliability of the entire Hurstbridge rail line.
Construction of the Hurstbridge line projects will commence early next year and is expected to be complete by 2019.
