“There is no interest in the purchase of the BDZ Cargo,” Bulgarian Minister of Transport, Information Technologies and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski said.
Minister Moskovski added that the reason for a meeting with the trade unions was to make a decision and receive support for the track that the company should follow in the future.
“The Privatisation Agency made its researches,” the minister remarked.
In his words, the agency sent a letter to the ministry saying that there was no interest in the company.
“I would like to stress that we are looking for all kind of options that will not bear a negative effect on the employees,” he added.
“Debts amassed by the BDZ – Freight Services amount at BGN 95.4 million at the moment,” said Vladimir Vladimirov, Executive Director of Holding BDZ.
In his words, there is slight decrease in the revenues.
“There is a huge difference when compared with the other carriers because it is a state-run railway company, we transport single shipments. No one else makes them because they are considered unprofitable,” Vladimirov explained.
At the moment, BDZ Cargo’s debt to the bank is BGN 245 million.
“Horizon for recovery programme for the railway transport in Bulgaria depends on the support we will receive,” said Vladimir Vladimirov.
