The railway capacity development project in the river-maritime area of Constanta Port has been completed. It includes the development of the systematised railway complex in the river-maritime sector of Constanta Port to ensure the proper and seamless service for the current and future port operators.
The first phase included the construction of the railway lines that serve current operators based on the traffic forecast until 2020.
The project is financed through the Operational Sectoral Programme Transport (SOP-T 2007-2013) with structural funds from the European Union (85%) and with state budget funds (15%). The cost of the contract was RON 58.3 million (EUR 13 million) and the contract was signed with Consal Trade- Livarom PREST- Elcomex and VIO TOP. Also, the cost of the contract for the technical assistance of work supervision is RON 1 million (EUR 228.4 thousand). Systra – Metroul SA JV is the consultant.
Works to existing stations have been carried out, the stations have been doubled and electrified, the existing Comvex line has been doubled on the future traffic interval. Works also included the construction of new railway stations, culverts, telecommunications works, signalling works, electrification works, energy supply works, including a new exploitation building which comprises various machines and installations.
