US Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) announced that Long Island Rail Road awarded Gannett Fleming – AECOM joint venture a USD 6.95 million contract on LIRR Main Line Expansion Project.
The JV will develop a conceptual engineering designs and will will assist in the environmental review for the construction of the third track along a critical 15.7 km section of LIRR’s Main Line between Floral Park and Hicksville Stations.
The third track will increase capacity while allowing trains to pass disabled equipment and avoid track and signal problems, thus greatly improving service reliability along this heavily traveled corridor.
