Croatian Minister of Transport, Oleg Butkovic, said that Vinkovci-Vukovar railway would be upgraded this year. The value of the project is EUR 55 million and is part of the Pan-European Corridor X. According to the infrastructure manager HŽ Infrastruktura, 85% of the project’s value is financed by the European Union and 15% by the Croatian government.
For the rehabilitation of the 18.7 km rail section, HŽ Infrastruktura signed in 2013 the contract with ACCIONA Ingeniería in a consortium of tenderers with IDOM Ingeniería y Consultoría S.A., ARDANUY Ingeniería S.A. of Spain and Željezničko projektno društvo d.d.
The project includes rehabilitation and electrification works.
