Malaysian Mass Rapid Transit Corporation awarded Turner & Townsend to provide quantitative cost risk assessment services for a new 52.2 km railway line in the Kuala Lumpur region of Malaysia. For the initial three years, the company will deliver the services every six months with an extension for the full duration of the project subject to a review.
The MRT Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya (SSP) Line will be the second of three mass rapid transit (MRT) systems to be constructed in the capital and surrounding areas. It includes 37 stations, with 26 of them elevated and eleven underground. Construction work is expected to start in spring 2016 and be fully operational by 2022.
Currently in the planning and design stage, we will deliver quantitative cost risk assessment every six months for the initial three years, with an extension for the full duration of the project subject to a review.
The railway line, which will operate trains at speeds of 100km/h, will enable an end-to-end journey time of 85 minutes.
