Italferr, the engineering company of the Italian State Railways, signed a contract worth around EUR 6 million to assist the Uzbek Railways in the works to upgrade the line Angren – Pap.
The contract was awarded through international tender financed by the World Bank and will last for about 3 years. The project, in addition to electrification, provides for the supply and installation of technological control systems.
Among the ongoing projects Italferr is involved with, worldwide, is the contract worth EUR 60 million in Saudi Arabia for the design of the 1300 km Riyadh-Jubail railway line, the order in Qatar of approximately EUR 16 million for the design of electromechanical and civil underground facilities on the Red Line of Doha Metro, the contract worth EUR 31 million for the preliminary design of the new railway network of the Sultanate of Oman and the supervision of the works for the construction of the Eurasia Tunnel in Turkey.
