Jeddah Metro Company has invited expressions of interest to design and build the metro system. The last date for the submission of EOI is September 3, 2015.
The required technical expertise includes experience in the designing and building of urban tunnel structures using tunnel boring machines and custom-fit TBM solutions, as well as experience in pre-cast segment fabrication.
The metro system comprises four lines, which will together span 157 km, of which 113 km will be elevated double track and 44 km tunnels. The system includes 85 metro stations.
In addition, Jeddah Metro has invited prequalification bids for civil works, systems and procurement of rolling stock for the light rail transit and the tramway network. The scope of works includes civil works, tracks, power supply, railway systems, rolling stock, fit-outs, stations, depots and ancillary works.
The LRT project involves construction of 29 km of new lines, 43 stations and three depots. The tram project comprises 16 km of double track, and involves the construction of 15 statioans and one depot. The prequalification process is scheduled to be completed by September 17, 2015.
All these projects are part of the USD 12 billion Public Transport Programme that was approve in March 2013.
