Contract for light rail extension in Denver approved

The Regional Transportation District’s board of directors approved the contract for the extension of the southeast portion of the light rail system. The contract with Balfour Beatty Infrastructure has a value of USD 140 million and will consist of two phases. The company will design and build a 2.3-mile (3.7 km), three-station extension beyond Lincoln Station, the current terminus of the E and F lines in Lone Tree.
Construction is expected to start in the spring of 2016 and to be completed by early 2019. The estimated total cost of the project is USD 233 million.
