Keolis and Virginia Rail Express (VRE) concluded to extend the contract for another 5 years on running VRE commuter rail trains throughout northern Virginia suburbs in Washington, D.C.
The extended contract, which is valued at USD 21 million for the first year, also requires Keolis to offer maintenance on the trains.
“Keolis assumed operations of the VRE five years ago with a strong focus on safety, operational excellence and providing an outstanding passenger experience, and they have more than delivered,” VRE CEO Doug Allen said.
The Virginia Rail Express (VRE) recently chose to extend the company’s contract with Keolis for another five years, allowing Keolis to run the VRE commuter rail trains throughout northern Virginia suburbs in Washington, D.C.
