DB plans to introduce Wi-Fi on trains between Koblenz and Emmerich from June 2019, teltarif.de reports. The joint body SPNV North in Rhineland-Palatinate wants to check network coverage and WLAN fittings by mid-2016. SPNV South estimates the costs for the installation of WLAN on 64 diesel rail cars for the private railway company Vlexx to be approximately EUR 1 million. According to the federal working committee on regional rail transport (BAG SPNV), the implementation of WLAN on regional trains will take several years. From this December, free WLAN will be available on trains within the electronic network Lower Saxony East (ENNO).
