During the fifth meeting of the Working Group in charge with Serbian Railways reform it was adopted the new structure of Serbian Railways. Starting with 1st July, the Serbian Railways will operate within three companies: one of the company will be in charge with passenger transport, another in charge of freight transport and the third one will be the railway infrastructure manager.
The draft will be presented to the management of these companies wich will be confirmed by the Serbian Government.
”The railways have to take a step forward and become more efficient and performant; this is the aim of the reform process,” the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlović said.
IMF Resident Representative for Serbia Daehaeng Kim said that ”the progress made in the last six months, since the Working Group began its work, is a positive example of the speed of reforms in the railway sector.”
