Authorities in Paris have launched the start of preliminary works to extend the Line 11 metro from Mairie des Lilas to Rosny-Bois-Perrier. Line 11 is being extended by 5.4 kilometres to Rosny-Bois-Perrier, providing connections to RER E, the extended T1 tramway and Line 15 of the Grand Paris Express. By 2030, Paris will have four brand new metro lines (15, 16, 17 and 18) plus extensions to lines 11 and 14. The new Grand Paris Express orbital network will allow passengers to travel between Parisian suburbs without going through the city centre, significantly reducing existing journey times.
