The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade has issued an order “Regarding Approval of the Action Item Plan to Replace Imports in Transport Machine Building” and published it at its website, Russian Rail Consulting writes.
Under the Order, by 2020 railway equipment produced by Russian manufacturers in cooperation with foreign partners has to be fully localized. Some of the projects may be supported by the Russian Technical Development Fund.
The priority tasks that the Ministry set were localizing Barber bogie components, 25 t/axle freight cars, cartridge bearings, 2ES5s and 2TE25Km freight locomotive components, locomotive alternators and AC traction drives, diesel locomotive traction motors, refrigerator cars, low-floor trams.
