Denmark: Banedanmark chooses the contractor for the electrification project

BanedanmarkAfter the evaluation and negotiations with the four consortia prequalified for the electrification of the Danish railway, Banedanmark is negotiating the final terms with the joint venture consisting of Per Aarsleff A/S, Siemens A/S and Siemens AG.
For the project, Banedanmark  received offers from four bidders: Aarsleff-Siemens, ASB Consortium formed by Alstom/Bravida Danmark / SPL Powerlines, Obrascon Huarte Lain/TSO and Strukton/Balfour Beatty.
“We have chosen to go in the final negotiations with Aarsleff-Siemens, which has made the total seen most economically advantageous bid,” Jesper Hansen CEO of Banedanmark said.
Banedanmark is already under way with the elctrification of the first section, a total of 57 km between Esbjerg and Lunderskov. Køge North-Næstved, Næstved-Ringsted-Rødby and the new Copenhagen-Ringsted high-speed railway are next.
Additional DKK 8.7 billion (EUR 1.16 billion) have been allocated from the Train Fund DK for the electrification of the sections Fredericia-Aalborg, Aalborg-Frederikshavn, Vejle-Struer and Roskilde-Kalundborg.
The project is put out to tender, and the decision to award the contract will be taken towards the end of the spring 2015.
