Serbian Railways and construction company Azvi signed an annex to the base contract on continuing construction of Zezelj bridge at the Danube in Novi Sad. Within the contract, the authorities provide EUR 3 million for works completion at the bridge, which will be part of the Belgrade-Budapest rail line. It was planned the bridge will be finished in 17 months and for additional three months, disassembling of a temporary bridge.
The total value of the works on the new bridge amounts EUR 49 million, but the works were suspended because the province didn’t accept to transfer money the city of Novi Sad.
Initialy, Azvi-Taddei-Horta-Koslada consortium signed an EUR 45.3 million contract, of which, EUR 26.2 million were financed by EU and EUR 19.1 million by Vojvodina and Novi Sad.
The 474 m new bridge will have double-track railway line, two roads, two pedestrian and bicycling paths 2,5 meters wide.
