BDZ announced that its freight unit reported a net loss of 5.39 million levs (2.76 million euros) in the first quarter of 2015, compared to only 3.18 million levs in the first quarter of 2014.
In January-March, BDZ-Tovarni Prevozi’s revenues fell to 26.9 million levs (13.7 million euros) from 30.4 million levs in the same period of last year.
The financial performance of both BDZ’s freight and passenger units was affected by ongoing railway infrastructure repairs. The company expects to end 2015 with a loss of 44.6 million levs (22.8 million euros).
