The European Commission adopted the 2014-2020 Operational Programme for “Enterprise and Innovations for Competitiveness” in the Czech Republic. Its budget amounts to almost EUR 8 billion with EUR 4.3 billion coming from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
The funding will be used nationwide to foster a knowledge-based economy that will increase economic growth and productivity. Strengthening research activities in enterprises and connecting them with university networks will be a priority for investments. Encouraging entrepreneurship, supporting SME competitiveness and energy efficiency – all with the aim of creating jobs and growth in the Czech regions – are also the objectives of the programme.
“We have adopted the first 2014-2020 operational programme for the Czech Republic and I believe it that will help the country to become a modernised economy with a focus on research and innovation. This investment package will support Czech enterprises to fully exploit their innovation potential and advance the development of novel products, creating jobs and growth in the country,” Commissioner for Regional Policy Corina Creţu said.
The expected results of the OP include the support to more than 1,970 enterprises through grants, annual decrease in greenhouse gas emissions of 300,000 tons CO2, an increase in the use of innovative low carbon technologies.
