Auckland Transport has awarded contracts to two consortia to carry out preliminary works for the USD 2.86 billion City Rail Link (CRL).
The almost USD 3 million contracts represent the first phase of construction in the Downtown area.
ADowner NZ and Soletanche Bachy joint venture will complete work beneath Britomart Station and Queen Street to the Downtown Shopping Centre site. Works are due to start early next year.
Main construction activity is scheduled for 2018/19. The 3.5-kilometre underground rail link should be completed by 2023.
