The Indian Railways and the Punjab government have decided to form a joint company to speed the construction of rail infrastructure, hindustantimes.com reports. The joint company, the first of its kind, will also take up new projects, including the creation of modern railway stations and laying of new rail tracks.
According to Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu, the new venture will help to connect missing rail links in the state, besides modernising important stations. The modernisation of the Amritsar railway station is the first initiative under this partnership.
