Uzbekistan Railways signed a contract with DB International for electrification of Qarshi-Termez railway line, UzDaily.com reports.
Within the contract, DB International will participate in electrification of the railway, including the delivery consultation services.
The project on electrification of railroad Qarshi-Termez is directed at expanding passenger and cargo transportation, as well as improving quality of realway services.
For the electrification project, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) issued a loan for 18.076 billion yens (USD 149 million).
Implementation of the project will improve social and economic development of Uzbekistan, as well as Central Asian states and Afghanistan.
