The collision between a commuter train and an SUV in the New York City suburbs cost the railroad $3.7 million (3.3 million euros) in damages, according to the National Transportation Safety Board’s preliminary report into the accident.
The Metro-North train crashed into a Mercedes SUV on 3 February at a grade crossing in Valhalla, resulting in six deaths. The investigation into the accident is still ongoing and the conclusions could be several months away.
