EUR 17 billion of EU funds allocated to Polish regions for innovation, SMEs and green growth

Poland regionsThe European Commission has adopted the 2014-2020 “Operational Programmes” for 9 Polish regions: Lubelskie, Małopolskie, Mazowieckie, Podkarpackie, Podlaskie, Pomorskie, Świętokrzyskie, Warmińsko-Mazurskie, and Zachodniopomorskie. These programmes will strengthen regional competitiveness, create new opportunities for growth, and increase the quality of life of its citizens and businesses. Together the programmes are worth more than EUR 20 billion including almost EUR 17 billion coming from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the European Social Fund (ESF).
Funding will channel vital investments into research and development (R&D) supporting private enterprises to conduct R&D activities, strengthening cooperation between enterprises and research institutions and boosting private investments in R&D. The funds will help in particular small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) to innovate and expand towards new markets.
Investments will also improve transport accessibility, improve energy performance and efficiency in urban areas, reduce air pollution, and build sustainable transport and energy networks. These investments will further enable Poland to meet its low-carbon economy objectives.
For Lubelskie, EU contribution is EUR 2.23 billion, Małopolskie, EUR 2.87 billion, Mazowieckie will get EUR 2.08 billion as EU contribution, Podkarpackie, EUR 2.11 billion, Podlaskie, EUR 1.21 billion, Pomorskie, EUR 1.86 billion,  Świętokrzyskie, EUR 1.36 billion, Warmińsko-Mazurskie EUR 1.73 billion and Zachodniopomorskie, EUR 1.6 billion.
