RZD increased container transportation by 3.7% to 3.2 mln TEUs in 2014. The highest growth was registered in the sector of domestic and transit transportation (+9.4% and +6.3%). Transit of loaded containers increased by 11.4%. Container transportation surged by 30.5% as compared with the pre-crisis year 2008. Chemicals and soda accounted for 16.2% of total volumes, paper – 12.1%, automobiles – 10.6%, and metalware – 9.1%.
