Downer EDI has won a $1 billion (882.5 million euros) contract with Asciano’s Pacific National rail group to provide maintenance services to trains over 10 years. Downer will provide maintenance services for more than 300 Pacific National locomotives as part of the contract, including providing a 24-hour fleet control centre and remote monitoring of the trains. This contract is part of the company’s long-term strategy to diversify away from manufacturing.
