tampereTampere (Finland) authorities have put out to tender a contract to operate and maintain a tram system in the city. The request for tender calls for either a private company or consortium to submit bids by 13 February, and the shortlist of possible winners will be drawn up during spring 2015.
The city council wants to buy 15 and 30 tram carriages, along with necessary spare parts and specialised tools, as well as to contract a company to carry out maintenance and repairs.

The planned total budget for the project is around  EUR 250 million euros. Final decisions regarding the construction of the scheme are due to be made in 2015-2016.
The trams will be put into operation until 2019 with the three-stage project scheduled to be complete by 2023.
The Tampere Tramway project will include the construction of a new 23,5 km tram network that will serve some 40 000 passengers per day.
