Austrian telecoms provider funknetz.at has rolled out free public WLAN for the Austrian Federal Railways (OBB) at the train stations Vienna West, Vienna Central and Vienna Neustadt. During the pilot phase, more than 1,100 devices were connected to the service. For the network dubbed ‘OBBfree’, the German WLAN producer Lancom provided the devices and Funknetz subsidiary Loop21 Mobile Net the software.
