Zambia Railways Limited says train speeds of 70km/h and 80km/h for freight and passengers will be attained by early 2016 following completion of full track rehabilitation works. The railway company has this year targeted to rehabilitate 500 kilometres of its 1,033 km line and signed contracts with 32 local contractors for the rehabilitation of its line, which would thereafter enable the firm to increase speeds that are currently around 30km/h and 40 km /hfor both freight and passenger trains, respectively.
