RZD wants to discontinue its regular passenger service to Budapest, Hungary on December 1 due to the fall in purchased ticket numbers, writes bbj.hu, quoting Russian news agency Tass. The company added it would also discontinue passenger service to Sofia, Bulgaria.
MÁV was informed of the decision last week, spokesperson Anett Szabó informed Hungarian news agency MTI, adding that negotiations are underway with railway companies in Ukraine and Russia to find a substitute in order to continue direct service between Budapest and Moscow.
