One consortium submits bid for Mexico City-Querétaro rail project

Mexico’s transport and communications ministry received just one bid for construction of the Mexico City-Querétaro passenger rail project.
An eight-party consortium including Mexican companies Constructora Y Edificadora Gia+A and Promotora y Desarrolladora Mexicana, and China Railway Construction Corporation submitted a 50.8bn peso (USD 3.75B) bid for the contract, according to documents posted on the government procurement portal Compranet.
Some 16 companies that had previously expressed interest in the project, including foreign and local heavyweights Bombardier, Siemens, CAF, Abengoa and ICA, did not submit bids.
