The project of the railway connecting Ethiopia and Djibouti is 50% completed, Ethiopia’s Ministry of Transport said. 16 bridges of the total 19 have already been built and the railway will be ready according to the initial schedule. Works for the construction of 19 rail stations will also begin soon.
The project will play an important role in increasing the dynamics of the Ethiopian economy by improving connections with ports and neighbouring countries. According to the initial schedule, the project will be completed at the middle of 2015. The railway will have 713 km and will cost around USD 4 Billion (EUR 3.12 Billion).
