After launching the tender on the acquisition of metro trains, Metrorex operator has opened the bids submitted by several companies.
Thus, Alstom submitted a bid worth EUR 6.3M/metro train, ASTRA Vagoane Călători – around EUR 5.1M/metro train, CAF-EUR 6.06M/metro train, CSR (China)-around EUR 5.22M/metro train and Pesa – EUR 6.5M/metro train.
According to the tender notice published by Metrorex on 26 June 2014 on the acquisition of 51 new metro trains (6 cars/train), the estimated cost of the contract was of RON 1.55 Billion (EUR 353.4 Million).
The (minimum and maximum) number of trains to be required as part of the framework agreement is of at least 43 metro trains (258 cars) and of maximum 51 metro trains (306 cars).
The trains delivered will be put in operation on Line 5, the Drumul Taberei – Pantelimon section.
